Under the Eaves
“Under the Eaves” is a series on the childhood home. The nest where we all fledge and fly from. A place of boundaries, nurture and adventure.
Childhood disappears quickly. These images help us savour the moment. I hope they help parents and grandparents savour what they have built together.
As a mother I see how vulnerable my children are, like fledgling chicks. Motherly instincts make me want to hold them tight, keep them close. I have to trust God’s goodness and let my children go to grow up and find God for themselves.
This series was painted during a time of uncertainty, being in-between houses trying to move back to my home country in Wales. It helped me focus on what’s important and what we were building. I am now privileged to be a stay-at-home mother of three young children, living in the heart of the Welsh countryside. I want to encourage other mothers to stay focus on what’s important.

Just like The Father looks after the sparrows, how much more our children. Children sleep in the security that their parents are keeping them safe. So can we.
